How to Take Shirt Measurements

Guide to Measuring Your Body for Custom Men's Dress Shirts

Follow this guide to take shirt measurements for your custom men's shirt. On the basis of your body measurements, we will make shirts to achieve the desired fit. Along with these measurements, kindly share images of front, back and side while wearing tight fitting clothing to understand the shape of the body. Do not crop the images.

How to Measure Your Neck for a Dress Shirt

To measure your neck, use a cloth measuring tape to measure around the base of your neck where your shirt collar would normally sit, below your Adam's Apple. Allow enough room for one finger between the measuring tape and your neck while taking your measurement.

How to Measure Your Shoulder Width for a Dress Shirt

To measure your shoulder width, stand up straight in a relaxed posture. With a cloth measuring tape, measure the shoulder from left / right edge, where the yoke of the shirt starts / tips of shoulders. Start the end of the measuring tape on the outside edge of the shoulder, where you want the yoke of the shirt to start. This is where the horizontal part of the shoulder meets the vertical part of the arm. Run the measuring tape over the curve of the shoulders to the outside edge of the other shoulder.

How to Measure Around Your Chest for a Dress Shirt

To measure around your chest, stand up in your normal posture. Measure around the fullest part of your chest. Position the cloth measuring tape high up under the arms and keep it horizontal. Do not puff out your chest or arch your back in any unnatural pose.

How to Measure Your Waist for a Dress Shirt

To measure your waist, stand up in your natural relaxed pose. Around 1” above the navel, measure around the fullest part of your waist. Make sure the measuring tape is snug on the skin but not squeezing in.

How to Measure Your Bicep for a Dress Shirt

To measure your bicep, use a cloth measuring tape to measure around your biceps at its widest point. Make sure the tape measure is not too tight and lies close to the arm pit.

How to Measure Your Wrist for a Dress Shirt

To measure your wrist, hold the tape close to your skin and measure around the wrist bone.

How to Measure Your Sleeve Length for a Dress Shirt

To measure your sleeve length, measure your arm sideways by placing the cloth measuring tape from the tip of the shoulder. Hang the tape down to your hand. Measure till the point at the wrist till the first metacarpal. Make sure measurements are taken without bending of the arm. As per your desired length for a short sleeve shirt, measure to a point on the external side of the arm.

How to Measure Your Dress Shirt Length

To measure your dress shirt length, place the cloth measuring tape at the base of your neck and down to your back where you would determine the shirt length to be. Go marginally longer or shorter depending on whether you plan to tuck or untuck your shirt.

Body Images Required for Custom Dress Shirt Orders

In addition to your body measurements, please send us your body images from front, back and both sides. The camera should be at shoulder height. Ideally, wear something that fits close to your body so that we can better understand your body structure.
